Taipei Dome Special Issue: What’s the difference between Farglory’s view of Taipei Dome and yours?

Thirty-two years after the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) championship game was disrupted by rain, the Taipei Dome has been inaugurated, answering the public’s calls for an indoor sports arena. Although not as high profile, Farglory has also responded to the equally passionate but vulnerable pleas of youth baseball players in remote areas. Not only did Farglory accept the Taipei Dome BOT case with great ambition, Farglory Foundation has also been sponsoring underprivileged teams and improving the facilities of youth baseball teams. To Farglory, the Taipei Dome is more than a sports field—it represents the last mile of the journey in children’s baseball dreams. In other words, Farglory has taken on the responsibility of restoring Taiwanese baseball to glory.

Applying Farglory’s architectural expertise to improve the living conditions of players in remote areas

Although difficult to imagine, improving rural baseball team facilities is even more difficult than constructing the Taipei Dome. The structural complexity of the Taipei Dome required the use of many cutting-edge engineering techniques, and needless to say, the construction team was skillful. However, when dealing with youth baseball players, the most important factor is to consider the players’ perspectives and construct facilities that best meet their needs.

Farglory Foundation leads the Group’s employees to refurbish the Hongye Youth Baseball Team’s dormitories.

The renovation project at Hongye Elementary School in Taitung’s Yanping Township, which is now entering its third year, is Farglory’s first long-term collaboration with a youth baseball team. Holding to the belief that having a good and comfortable living environment is a basic human right, Farglory first completely renovated the players’ dormitories and bathrooms, and thoughtfully added storage space in the area. Then, after attentively listening to the children’s needs, Farglory coated the walls in magnetic paint to allow for tactical discussions among players. Vacant classrooms were also refurbished into reading and tutoring areas to ensure the balanced development of the players’ academic and athletic skills. “Thank you, you’ve solved a major problem for me!” The Hongye Youth Baseball Coach expressed his deep gratitude in the documentary on Farglory Foundation’s renovation project.

In 2022, Farglory also installed night lighting fixtures and compartmentalized the weight room for Chung Hsing Baseball Team in Nantou to improve the team’s training efficiency. Looking ahead, Farglory will continue to address the needs of baseball teams in remote areas to help players realize their dreams.

Taipei Dome strengthens its home field glory through a memory-guided journey

Taiwan’s relationship with baseball has spanned nearly a century, and the fighting spirit of baseball players is a topic of animated discussion for countless fans. In 2023, Farglory Foundation cooperated with Major League Baseball (MLB) for the first time to organize the WBC–CPBL Heroes Special Exhibition, connecting the entire history of baseball in Taiwan. Zhonggang Elementary School Baseball Team from New Taipei City, one of Farglory’s sponsored teams, was invited to visit the exhibition and listen to the glorious stories behind each exhibit as told by the coach. At the end of their visit, the team leader expressed his aspiration, “I hope to play for CPBL one day and become their best shortstop!”

Zhonggang Elementary School students happily toss their hats into the air and cheer for the trip.

His words echoed the aspirations behind Farglory’s construction of the Taipei Dome. To honor baseball players who have devoted their lives to the sport, Farglory has built a world-class arena that enables them to play their best and proudly welcome teams from all over the world to compete on their home field!

In the years since Farglory first unveiled its blueprint and pledged to build the “best indoor sports arena in Asia,” the Company’s original intention of contributing to baseball in Taiwan has remained unchanged. To Farglory, a sports field is simply a sports field no matter how grand—the important thing is that it can be used by those who cherish it. From cultivating youth baseball talents at a lower level, preserving baseball artifacts and memories, and finally building a world-class baseball stadium for Taiwan, Farglory will continue to nurture the Taiwanese people’s century-old baseball dream!
