Farglory Free Trade Zone is located next to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, which makes it not only a hub for travelers but also the nation’s only air freight logistics zone. As a result, thousands of international shipments pass the FTZ every day. Recently, this critical logistics hub has quietly undergone a series of smart upgrades. From the deployment of IBM LinuxONE platforms to facial recognition access systems, the FTZ is steadily evolving toward the logistics model of the future. Though such developments may seem technical at first, they are deeply intertwined with our everyday lives.

Bringing global products to your door, faster

“I wish my international orders could arrive sooner.” To make such a wish come true requires the intelligent systems operating behind the scenes at the Farglory FTZ. With the introduction of OCR smart recognition technology, cargo handling efficiency has increased by 40%. An upgraded automated storage system has added 278 storage slots, equivalent to about 300 tons of additional capacity. This means that Taiwanese consumers can receive overseas goods more quickly, while merchants can enjoy reduced logistics costs while bringing in a broader range of products. And when it’s time for Made-in-Taiwan (MIT) goods to be exported, they benefit from the same high-efficiency logistics support – spreading bringing the appeal of MIT products further and faster on the global stage.

Unseen contributions to sustainability

When we shop for imported goods online, few of us consider the carbon footprint that those products represent. The Farglory FTZ’s adoption of the LinuxONE platform has tripled IT processing speeds while reducing energy consumption by 20%. Meanwhile, the integration of facial recognition access control has not only enhanced security but also streamlined personnel movement. This improves workplace efficiency while safeguarding international trade operations.

In today’s global economy, the Farglory FTZ plays a vital role in connecting Taiwan with the rest of the world.
