Farglory Group's Multifaceted Initiatives to Combat Extreme Climate Change

According to research data from Taiwan’s Ministry of Transportation and Communications, the average temperature in Taiwan has risen by approximately 1.5°C over the past century—significantly surpassing the global average. Projections indicate that Taiwan will face shorter winters, longer summers, decreased spring rainfall, and intensified Meiyu (“Plum Rain”) downpours. In response to these climate trends, Farglory Land and Farglory Life (both within the Farglory Group) have begun reevaluating how their products can help customers adapt to extreme weather conditions while actively working to mitigate climate change.
Implementing inventories: the first step toward scientific carbon reductions
Farglory Land and Farglory Life within the Farglory Group are proactively exceeding regulatory requirements by implementing ISO 14064 greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories. In addition to calculating the carbon footprint of office operations, Farglory Land has expanded its inventory scope to include construction sites. Meanwhile, Farglory Life has adopted ISO 14067 carbon footprint assessment, meticulously tracking emissions throughout the entire policy lifecycle—from raw materials, marketing, and services to distribution and disposal. In 2024, Farglory Life successfully obtained ISO 14067 certification for policy carbon footprint assessment, achieving a reasonable assurance level as recognized by Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment. These initiatives enhance all organizations’ understanding of their carbon emissions.Product innovation: helping customers adapt to climate risk
To address the various impacts of climate change, Farglory Land is not only factoring extreme weather into construction timeline adjustments, but has also taken a proactive approach at the design stage. By analyzing regional flood records, drainage system capacities, and other relevant data, the company evaluates and enhances first-floor drainage plans and elevation levels. These measures strengthen building resilience, ensuring that every customer’s home becomes a secure fortress against climate uncertainties.Farglory Life leverages technology to promote green insurance services such as including mobile underwriting, mobile claims processing, mobile policy servicing, mobile premium payments, as well as e-policies and digital documents. These initiatives reduce paper usage and lower carbon emissions from transportation. Additionally, the company has implemented a low-carbon underwriting process and uses FSC-certified materials for policy production, ensuring strict environmental controls at every stage of the policy lifecycle to minimize its environmental impact.
Carbon reduction has become a shared commitment. Farglory Group will continue exploring lower-carbon solutions while ensuring that our products and services actively align with emerging trends in climate change mitigation and adaptation.
